What is Preptember?

September is a big month for preparedness, including National Preparedness Month and Hurricane Preparedness Month.

All of this preparedness awareness in September is shortened to Preptember.

The moniker is used by all sorts of people and organizations, including the CDC, preparedness groups, and plenty of prepper creators. It’s also used by hackers ahead of ‘Hacktoberfest’, but it was first used by preppers, and the preparedness month usage is more common.

Some brands and suppliers have caught on and started running sales for the month of September, calling them Preptember sales. You can find some good deals, so now we’ll move along to our favorites.

Food Storage

Food storage companies live and die by preparedness, so of course, they are participating.

Here are the big ones:

The last two companies took some top picks in our emergency food supplier review.

Stocking up on shelf-stable food is always a good idea when it’s on sale.

First Aid & Medical Preparedness

Nothing is more practical for preparedness than having crucial first aid and medicine supplies on hand for an emergency. Everyone gets sick or hurt occasionally, and having that overlap with a situation where you can’t reach medical assistance can compound problems quickly.

Amazon Promo

Amazon is running a promotion where you get a $5 credit when you spend $30 on select supplies, which include first aid kits, band aids, protein bars, hygiene supplies, and OTC medicine. I don’t think it’s for National Preparedness Month, but I’ll take it.

Browse the entire list to see what it applies to, or just pick up some of my favorite items to hit the $30 threshold: Amazon $5 Credit Eligible Items.

There are over 1000 items eligible for the promo, so you’re bound to find something.

IFAKs

Our favorite IFAK supplier, MyMedic, is giving away their First Aid Training Course when you buy any kit this month. Training is an often-overlooked aspect of medical preparedness, so it’s nice to have some of the basics being offered.

Antibiotics Kits

Jase Medical is running $25 off, and then $50 off a future case with code JPM25.

After reviewing the best antibiotic kit suppliers, Jase came in at the top of the heap due to their service, antibiotics included, optional add-ons, and best-in-class online order process.

Many people overlook critical medicine for preparedness, but it’s something worth investing in.

Premade Bug Out Bags

Uncharted Supply Company is running its Preparedness Month sale between September 10 and 17th this year, and you can’t see the specific deals until that time frame hits. If you are checking this early, be sure to bookmark and come back when the sale is live.

They are rocking 35% off everything, with some discounts climbing up to 40%:

The Seventy2 is the standout here since it is one of the best pre-made bug out bags you can buy, as shown in our review.

Subscription Box

BattlBox always jumps into the fray and will give you 20% off your order and donate 20% of their sales to the Cajun Navy (US volunteer disaster relief) when you use the code CAJUN this month.

BattlBox is our top survival subscription box, and it earns its place by shipping solid value and placing unique gear in its boxes every month. It’s nice that for National Preparedness Month, they’ll let us save some money, support a good cause, and land some neat stuff on the porch.

Check out what BattlBox has to offer, and save some dough with that code.
